Get to Know The REAL Ms. Frizzle's Niece
Science is meant to be Fun!
Thank you for dropping by! Just to give you a brief background on myself and the choice of my moniker; my family has a long line of educators with both of my grandmothers working in education as well as some of my extended family. My mother's youngest sister also went into education and when I was little she won the national Ms. Frizzle look-alike contest and spent a year traveling around the country as Ms. Frizzle, so therefore I am the REAL Ms. Frizzle's Niece. I grew up in Northern Idaho and completed my Bachelors Degree in Biology at Idaho State University and continued on to my first Masters in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences specializing in Medicinal Chemistry. I took a brief hiatus from higher education so that my husband could finish his PhD in Nuclear Engineering at North Carolina State University where I began teaching in my first Chemistry classroom. During that time I recognized that there was more I needed to learn in order to be the best teacher I could be and after my husband completed his degree I went back to school at South Dakota State University to earn a Masters in Chemistry specializing in Educational Chemistry. From there my husband and I traveled, along with our trusty pup Teddie, to New Mexico for him to start his career with the Los Alamos National Lab. I started teaching at the local high school in the fall of 2019 and when the pandemic hit I was 5 months pregnant! During the early pandemic I spent the time dreaming up my ideal classroom and I implemented that dream during the 21/22 school year. now I would like to share some of the things I have learned along the way to inspire and aide those who are looking to change up their classrooms!
